Letters from FranceThe text is from letters my father wrote during World War I service in France. He wrote about the people he met and places he passed through. His mood was unfailingly upbeat, even in the face of appalling waste of life. He didn't want his family to worry. |

OsakaThe text is from an article in an Osaka newspaper. It describes my father's arrival in Japan as a Fulbright scholar to teach at Kansai University in Osaka. The calligraphy is art of its own; a viewer doesn't need to know the meaning. |

Sand PassagesThere is no text on these tiles. They remind me of walks on the beach. Clear water moving over sand. |
Archival Footprints™ is the name given to these glass tiles because the text on the tiles is taken from personal family archives. I have a long time fascination with text. This text is readable only in places, to convey fleetng glimpses of a mood, a feeling. Each tile is 4" x 4" by 3/8" and is made of 100 percent recycled glass. Each tile is unique. Appearance will vary, even within the same series.
